TES TALKS: EMMET BROWNE, CEO OF BIOTECH STARTUP NURITAS AND FORMER REGIONAL PRESIDENT OF PFIZER AND NESTLE
TES is excited to welcome Emmet Browne to the TES Talks stage this Monday!
Formerly Europe, Pacific Rim & Emerging Markets regional president for global pharma giant Pfizer, Emmet Browne turned his back on the big players to become CEO of Irish bio-technology startup Nuritas in March.
Nuritas was founded by former Trinity student and PHD graduate Nora Khaldi. Nora studied 2 undergraduate degrees at the same time, in both maths and biology, and through the field of bioinformatics which she created, Nuritas uses machine learning and AI to figure out what extra benefits human beings can derive from substances in food production that were previously seen as waste. Essentially, Nuritas is discovering new uses for old substances and molecules, such as how these substances can be used to cure inflammation and cholesterol. What would have taken the research industry using traditional research methods 100 years to do before, Nuritas is doing it in just 12 months!
This startup is in the new and super-sexy space of using technology to solve world problems through the field of biotechnology.
Nuritas brought in Emmet Browne to lead it to new heights as the new CEO.
As well as being director of Pfizer, which is a massive pharmaceutical multinational, as well as Nestle, he was also former Managing Director for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in Ireland. During his time in Pfizer, Emmet Browne played a key role in the successful divestment to Nestle for $11.85 billion in 2012. He is also the former Chairman of the Blanchardstown Institute of Technology and was Vice President of the Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association.
Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to hear Emmet speak about how he got started on his career, the growing field of biotechnology, and how he's growing Nuritas into a business with the potential to help change the world for the better!
